Paris - 26 juin 2015: IBM annonce aujourd’hui que Gartner l’a classé comme un des leaders dans son Magic Quadrant du 15 juin 2015 concernant les solutions logicielles de backup et les appliances intégrées dédiées aux entreprises.1

Pour ce rapport, Gartner a évalué IBM Spectrum Protect, un logiciel de protection et de récupération des données, qui fait partie du portefeuille software defined storage de la compagnie. IBM Spectrum Protect optimise les backups pour les environnements physiques, virtuels et Cloud depuis une console d’administration unique. Cette solution est de plus en plus adoptée par les sociétés qui opèrent un modèle de Cloud hybride. Elle répond aux objectifs de protection des données des entreprises de toute taille et peut offrir de nouvelles perspectives aux développeurs d’applications, aux propriétaires de données et aux fournisseurs de services dans chaque industrie qui souhaitent développer des applications dans les domaines du Big Data et de l’internet des objets (IoT) sans avoir besoin de maitriser la gestion, la récupération ou la protection des données.

Par exemple CenterGrid héberge le software de Steetline, Inc, une entreprise leader du stationnement qui a développé une application qui diffuse les places de parking disponibles sur un mash-up Google map. Les automobilistes peuvent utiliser un Smartphone pour trouver un emplacement de parking, payer et retrouver leur voiture quand ils sont prêts à partir.  Les agents de la voie publique peuvent constater les dépassements et stationnements non autorisés sur une carte interactive, ce qui permet une plus grande efficacité et un meilleur respect des règles par les automobilistes.

IBM Storage Named a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup Software and Integrated Appliances

CenterGrid uses IBM Storage Software for Cloud Backup Services

ARMONK, NY - 26 Jun 2015: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that Gartner, has recognized IBM as a Leader in the June 15, 2015 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup Software and Integrated Appliances.1  

For this report, Gartner evaluated IBM Spectrum Protect, a data protection and recovery software, which is part of the company’s software defined storage portfolio.

IBM Spectrum Protect optimizes backups for physical, virtual and cloud environments from a single management console and are increasingly finding favor among clients with hybrid cloudenvironment. It addresses data protection objectives for organizations of all sizes and can open up opportunities for application designers, data owners and service providers in every industry to develop Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT) applications without mastering data management, recovery or protection.

With IBM Spectrum Protect, cloud infrastructure service providers like CenterGrid are able to support new, innovative applications that take seed in the start-up community.

For example, CenterGrid hosts software from Streetline, Inc., a leading smart parking company that has developed a mobile app that displays available parking spots on a Google map mash-up. Commuters can use a Smartphone to find a parking lot, make the payment and find their car when they are ready to go. Parking Enforcement staff can view expired and inoperable meters on a mobile map, which can improve staff efficiency and citizen compliance.

Smart parking is enabled through four-inch square (about 10cm) Streetline sensors fastened to the pavement that wirelessly send signals to transmission boxes mounted on light poles every few blocks, which then transmit the data to Streetline servers hosted in CenterGrid facilities. This is supported by high-availability IBM infrastructure and services provided by CenterGrid, which includes IBM Spectrum Protect for its Recovery Center cloud backup service.
