Paris - 13 janv. 2015: IBM (NYSE: IBM) annonce aujourd’hui que 7 534 brevets ont été obtenus par ses inventeurs en 2014. Un nouveau record pour la compagnie qui reste, pour la 22e année consécutive, le numéro un au classement annuel des récipiendaires de brevets aux Etats-Unis.

Plus de 20 brevets par jour ont été obtenus en moyenne en 2014 par les inventeurs IBM, faisant d’IBM la première entreprise à dépasser plus de 7 000 brevets décernés en une seule année.

Parmi ce résultat record de brevets décernés en 2014, plus de 3000 brevets  – soit 40% du total annuel – couvrent nombre d’inventions pour le Cloud, l’Analytique, la mobilité, le social and la sécurité. Au cours des 5 dernières années, IBM a plus que doublé le nombre de brevets reçus dans ces  domaines de croissance stratégique, et a maintenu sa place de premier récipiendaire sur ces domaines.

Les inventeurs IBM  ont également obtenus plus de 500 brevets pour des inventions qui vont contribuer à l'émergence de l’ère des systèmes cognitifs, parmi lesquels les nouvelles technologies cognitives liées à Watson.

Au cours des 22 années où IBM a été numéro un des récipiendaires de brevets aux Etats-Unis (de 1993 à 2014), le nombre total de brevets reçus s’élève à plus 81 500.

Le nombre total de brevets obtenus en 2014 par IBM dépasse le nombre cumulé de brevets délivrés à Accenture, Amazon, Google, HP, Intel et Oracle.

Le nombre record de brevets reçus par la compagnie en 2014 a été rendu possible grâce à plus de 8 500 inventeurs IBM présents dans 46 états américains et 43 pays dans le monde. 34% des brevets reçus aux Etats-Unis l’ont été par les inventeurs ne résidant pas aux Etats-Unis.

First Company to Exceed 7,000 Patents in a Year
#1 on U.S. Patent List for 22nd Consecutive Year

ARMONK, N.Y. - 12 Jan 2015: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that it received a record 7,534 patents in 2014 -- marking the 22nd consecutive year that the company topped the annual list of U.S. patent recipients. 

IBM inventors earned an average of more than 20 patents per day in 2014, propelling the company to become the first to surpass more than 7,000 patents in a single year.

The company’s record-setting 2014 patent output was led by more than 3,000 patents – 40% of its annual total – covering a range of cloud computing, analytics, mobile, social and security inventions. Over the past five years, IBM has more than doubled its output of patents within these strategic growth areas and was the leading recipient of cloud, analytics, mobile, social and security patents during this period.

IBM inventors also received more than 500 patents for inventions that will usher in the era of cognitive systems, including new Watson related cognitive technologies.

During IBM’s 22 years atop the patent list (1993-2014), the company’s inventors have received more than 81,500 U.S. patents.
